Joshua McFadden is the founder of Submarine Hospitality in Portland, Oregon. He helped to envision Ava Gene’s, Cicoria, Woodsman and Tusk restaurants. He is currently working for Sortis Holdings as a culinary creative and helping to create and bring new concepts to life.
In between designing and programing the restaurants, he is bringing new life to Berny Farm, a historic 50-acre farm in Springdale Oregon, with the goal of creating an agricultural complex that will host collaborations between farming, food, and design.
His first book, Six Seasons: A New Way with Vegetables, written with Martha Holmberg, won a James Beard Award in 2018. His new book Grains for Every Season alsowritten with Martha Holmberg, was nominated for a James Beard Award in 2022. He is currently working on a new book about pasta that will be out in fall of 2024.
